Swansea letting agents sold to property management firm

A letting agents based in Swansea has been sold to a property management firm in a six-figure deal advised on by a local law firm with strong links to the target company. McCartan Lettings & Property Limited, which operates from Killay, works with renters, landlords, homeowners and contractors, among others.

The company was founded by Hannah McCartan in 2006 and, since then, has established itself as a key letting agent in the Swansea area. The business has now been sold to Newport-based property management firm Number One Property Management Limited, with Hannah McCartan deciding to exit the business after nearly two decades and commenting that it was “the right time to sell”.

Peter Lynn and Partners Solicitors advised on the sale and McCartan highlighted the role that the firm’s advice and guidance had played in helping her find the right buyer, saying that she was confident that Number One Property Management was “the ideal team to drive the next stage of McCartan Lettings’ growth.”

Swansea-based Peter Lynn and Partners Solicitors has a longstanding history with McCartan Lettings & Property, having provided a range of legal services for Hannah McCartan and the business over the years, including start-up advice during its early years and overseeing the sale of a regional franchise.

Hannah McCartan commented: “They have an in-depth understanding of my business, so when I decided to sell, I knew where to go for expert legal advice.”

Rob Cherry and James Lewis-Hyndman (pictured above with Hannah McCartan), working on behalf of Peter Lynn and Partners, guided Hannah McCartan through the sale process. Rob Cherry stated that the deal “secures the future of the lettings agency”.
